Largest waterfall in Kerala

Athirapally Falls is situated in Ernakulam, Thrissur District in Kerala on the Chalakudy River, which originates from the upper reaches of the Western Ghats. It is the largest waterfall in Kerala, which stands tall at 81.5 feet. The roads from the main road to the waterfalls have a very natural fresh air atmosphere—especially in the Morning and late evening. Many movies have been shot at Athirappilly Falls in Kerala, including Baahubali, Dil Se, Raavan, Punnagai Mannan, and Iruvar.

The water cascades down in a wide, powerful flow, creating a breathtaking view. It is often called the “Niagara of India” because of its beauty and size. The area is home to rich wildlife, including birds and elephants. It is a popular tourist spot, especially during the monsoon when the waterfall is at its strongest.

It is a small trek of around 2 km leading to the waterfall. The waterfall can be viewed from the top as well as the bottom. The bottom is very mesmerising. There are three gush of streams.

A single one, and then two coupled together. The beauty is that there’s a staunch creek where the water hits and then falls. This creates a mesmerising illusion of the water vapour. Lovely birds are flying around the waterfall.
