Designing products for the long run — on screens and on trails

Yes. Cult.fit has changed my life!

Its been a year and a half since I have been addicted to the cult. A happy addiction, btw 🙂 The cult classes have changed the perspective of my life and towards fitness of course. It has given me the best people to hang out with, the quality of conversations, the people who push me away from my comfort zone, changed eating habits, self-motivated people irrespective of their age group, time sense, sleep cycles, my hangouts are usually for a run, swim or hike rather than a cafeteria or a pub! Most importantly, regulars who visit are very clear about their ambitions and goals in life.

Be it a college student, working professional or a senior citizen, I have seen the same amount of dedication and efforts applied during the workout. They have been open about the feedback and suggestion on twitter wrt to the app. The feedback for every session is considered and we can opt if we are expecting a call from the team to rectify. Dropping out of classes during an emergency is highly appreciated. When it rains, the cancellation window is extended! The penalty on No Show is apt. The recent FitCash feature has literally proved that — Health is Wealth. The app is well thought and built. It’s one app which caters to a healthy lifestyle — cult.fit, eat.fit, mind.fit, gear.fit and care.fit.

The mentors are super fit. I totally admire my running Coach Anil Mahobia for helping me pace through the Marathons. What I have understood is — Fitness is not just a habit or a daily ritual, its a way of life. It makes me happier. It gives me peace. When I finish my work hours early, and I have an hour to two to spare, I rush to cult classes. I always have a pair of indoor shoes and workout gear 🙂 Going to the cult for morning classes is so refreshing since I love to work on myself before I work for others. We need to learn to respect the body. We can change the place we live if we do not like, our body is where we live for the next 30–40 years. We have no alternative. We need to treat it right. Body is my temple for connecting to my highest self. I use movements to nourish my mind, body, and soul. Our stomach isn’t a dustbin to put the unnecessary food which adds no benefits.

I do have my cheat days. Working out is no longer a punishment for eating, permission to drink, or an obsessive wat to alter my physical appearance. At times, I feel lazy and I do not want to push myself to the classes. I cancel the classes an hour in advance to ensure it doesn’t result in a no-show. I do binge eat ice creams and go for a pizza or a buffet since it gives me happiness. But that’s for that day. Next day morning, I resume my classes as usual. No regrets.

When we see the results of the training, addiction begins. But then there’s a rest day recommended always. This helps me smash my goals. I do not compare my records with others, in fact, we all beat our own previous records. My mind always wanders what’s next. At times when I am cranky, I book Hatha yoga sessions at mind.fit. This helps me calm down. When I feel aggressive, I book boxing sessions and I come back like a saint! When I want to explore the beauty of my city, I choose Cult outdoors like Sports conditioning and running. When I miss being in the water, I book swimming sessions. When I am on rest days, I binge-watch F.R.I.E.N.D.S. and order for meals from eat.fit. When you are ready to compete, there are Cult challenges to be sportive. What else can one ask for in life? We have so many options in fitness so that both body and mind gets the best! Exercise is a gift. Having a healthy body and mind is a privilege I am grateful for.
