When I first saw the advertisements for the event on cure.fit the Instagram page, I was super excited and I must be in the first 100’s who registered out of the several 1000s 😀
I discussed this with the workout mates and I received a positive response and we registered. We met on a Saturday apart from the regular classes and practised with the instructor Geetha. It was a Spanish song called Mi Cama as a suggestion and we liked the song when we heard it. The choreography needed a lot of energy so we made sure we gave our 100%. We were quick enough to wrap up the complete two minutes song in an hour’s time. We were paired with the rest of the teammates for keen observations and feedback. Stronger hands, right-to-left, a clean body wave, crisp moments were the feedback and we improvised. We met a few other branch Cult members and socialised to know what fitness levels are they in, what’s classes are their favourite, favourite instructors, their other hobbies, fitness journeys, profession and so on. It was a fun conversation. We left for the day after the water break and final rehearsal for the day. We promised to catch up next week.
I met them the consecutive Saturday and we did our revision followed by technical rehearsals like entry, exit, final positions on stage and so on. We added modifiers based on suggestions, the “wow” ones, the formations to keep the audience engaged. A night of sleep and then we had to assemble the next day for the event. We relied on our muscle memory blessings you know! We had decided to go with zero expenses for the costume since we are comfortable in workout wear. We chose Red T-shirt which all of us commonly have. We were all excited to go on stage and we called ourselves “The Red Brigadiers” — the stage name 🙂 The crowd was cheering, we had our instructor give us the count before we started. We gave our 500% energy and danced our blues away 🙂
Want a fun day it was! We executed as planned. That feeling of accomplishment is heaven. We evaluated the video captured by our friends and were happy. We cheered for other teams. Observed the strong points to make sure we know the learnings. We clicked lots of selfies, thanked our instructor for her time and patience. A day well spent. We had lunch together and left for the day. What a well-spent Sunday, indeed.
Winning a competition is not always the point in life. We don’t have to be perfect to be amazing. There’s no glory without practice. We leave a sparkle wherever we go. In the sweat, we sparkled. We stretched to our horizons. One should strive for the progress and not perfection. We need to take care of our body because there’s where we will live for the next 30 years. Our health is an investment, not an expense. We literally unleashed the beast in us since it was all power moves, unlike a dance. Find joy in the ordinary. The best project you will ever work on is yourself. This is my happy place? What’s yours?
Do share your views with this wannabe writer. Constructive feedback will be appreciated. Of course along with your happy place 🙂
