During my school days, I found my passion for dance.
I could not continue due to academic pressure and also it was not financially feasible for a middle-class girl whose parents spend on various expenses like school fees, tuition fee, van fee and so on.
When I was employed after college, I could afford to pay the dance fee in spite of paying my education goals.
It was my dream to be a student at Shaimak’s Dance Academy.
The company I work for also reimbursed 50% of the fees as any physical activity like Gym, swimming, dance etc was supported because the founder wants every employee to be fit which is a lovely thought, isn’t it?
With no second thoughts, I enrolled myself for the institute I always dreamt of since childhood.
As the classes began during the weekends, I used to jump in joy for it to commence!
I have been learning various dance forms like Bollywood, contemporary and hip-hop.
I was carried away with the beats, the choreography, the music, the technique and in the lingua franca, the dancer’s language and what not! Most favourite is the Dancer’s language — Eg: Boom Cat hah, Boom Boom Hah, Cat boom Hah, Cat Cat boom with a combination of three moves and many more such combinations:)
We have the opportunities to perform on stage after every quarter to showcase our skills and were rewarded with a certificate!
The music and the beats had a very unique effect on me.
I was a better version of me on the dance floor which my friends noticed and appreciated.
I made very talented friends from various streams, burnt calories, visited restaurants after tiring sessions, enjoyed together.
I realised that having a hobby which we are passionate about is so important in one’s life.
It gave me immense happiness and a boost of self confidence.
Like the quote — “When you are truly passionate about something, you do it because you genuinely love doing it first, and then you figure out how to make a living from it”. I cant wait for this day to arrive.
I recommended it to my friends’ circle and they tried with music, learning Guitar, so on and they finally lead a happier lives now 🙂
