And, the list is endless. Here are some of my answers.

My favorite product is Evernote.

What is Evernote?

  • It is a cross-platform note-taking utility to take notes in a variety of formats including text, photos, audio, video, sketches and etc. It helps me to keep organized in today’s hectic life.

What is the goal of the Product?

  • To be the best note-taking app supporting various formats.

What is the problem faced by current users? How is it resolved by Evernote?

  • The problem faced by users is there need to use various app to save notes of different format.
Eg: A screenshot lies in the gallery and not my notes, a voice note in a different folder. an attachment in the Gmail app, text notes on the Note app.
  • It is been addressed by supporting all formats in one single app with add-ons features like reminder, web clipper, and so on.

Can you do a competitor evaluation in this domain?

  • Trello, Asana, Meistertask, Jira — all have tried to solve the problems in their unique way and also the purpose of note-taking being different in their scenarios.

What are your favorite features that you extensively use?

  • Evernote templates for habits, work, school, money-saving, gifting, etc.
  • Search feature which searches among my hand-written notes, pdfs. OCR game is pretty strong.
  • Search based on location and date created is super awesome.
  • Web clipper which saves a particular URL, paragraph is good.

What would you like to improve?

  • It lacks a default naming convention of new notes. I usually have a bunch of untitled notes in a day!
  • Ability to use color labels.
  • Linking between the Notes.
  • Ability to export notes as plain text
  • Ability to set repeat reminders at set intervals.
  • No gallery for images
  • No Project management solution for free users
  • Pricing structure

Name a feature change added/dropped recently.

  • Dark mode, Collect photos!
  • Evernote spaces — Slack-like interface. Spaces don’t allow users to comment on notes.
  • No two people can edit a document simultaneously.
  • There’s no history — No way to see who edited what!
  • Not integrated with work chat.
  • Plenty of integrations like Slack, Drive, Outlook is only for Business plans.
  • The free plan restricts — 3 devices & 60MB only.
  • Pricing is costly $100 a year when notion, Trello, One Note has so much more on a free plan.
