Designing products for the long run — on screens and on trails

This is intriguing!

Someone recently asked me this question & I went into a state of trans to honestly question myself.

It was deep, but then I had to jot down my thoughts for self-discovery 🙂

Short answer — When my Coach/mentor appreciates my performance which is a sort of rare sight haha!

Or rather when I complete my Ironman, Boston Marathon, Everest Basecamp, & other items on my bucket list & I ensure that my grave has it inscribed with a checkmark 🙂

Reading a book peacefully sipping my dose of caffeine

I’d die for the satisfaction & happiness of sipping my strong filter coffee & cherishing it (perfect temperature, perfect sweetness, froth course), not missing a single sunrise, sweaty group hugs after completing a tough race, a trek after crossing all obstacles, a good performance, nutritious food after a great swim, a night of deep sleep after a long day, a well-written article, a dish cooked perfectly well, a good cry, a clean clutter-free home, or any day-to-day chore really well done at home or at work as per my expectations, long conversations with a school/college friend, clean code, reading a book, putting in the hard & smart work, multiple reviews, research, sacrificing sleep to achieve the task accomplished + gets applauded & the users/stakeholders remain happy about it before looking at any metrics 🙂

Nothing else matters.

As they say, if it’s not a ‘hell yes’, then it’s definitely a ‘no’.

P.S. Have you ever asked this question yourself?
If not, it’s worth every ounce of your second 🙂
