Designing products for the long run — on screens and on trails

  • Taking a note of the changing landscapes, varying from urban areas to countryside vistas, mountains, rivers, and fields in a flash was enthralling.
  • Observing fellow passengers — how they interact, their language dialect, their activities, unique behaviours speaks volumes.
  • I made a wish looking at the clear skies, birds, & the mountains. We are just a dot in the universe.
  • It was like watching a live Pinterest board & pinning every moment in my memory for a lifetime to cherish.
  • It is lovely how two birds of same feather flock together in sync like choreographed moves.
  • It so cute when a cow is grazing in the fields & a bird looking for a worm in the same field. They are not harming each other even if in the same spot. No competition is so peaceful.
  • The variation of distinct sounds and smells associated with the journey — the rhythm of the train, station announcements, or local scents passing through open windows remains unique to the geography.
  • It’s endearing to observe the husband ensures that the wife leans inwards so that her nap is undisturbed in the moving train.
  • Observing the mountain ranges it teaches us to always keep the head held high. Let the world adjust. Be yourself.
  • It also triggered me to — Stick to the hunt of mountains, & the ‘man’ will pass by 🙂
  • There’s live talent show literally in every compartment of the train. Age, gender, colour of the skin doesn’t matter.
  • Kindness exists. People still took turns in sacrificing their seats for someone who stepped in & stood for long hours with no reservations.
  • There was someone who noticed when I was struggling to lift my huge trolley to rack it up on the top-shelf & did it on my behalf. I’m grateful.
  • Though everyone were engaged with their devices or lost in own thoughts, the glances were exchanged having an eye when I put my phone outside the window rails to capture the process of railroad switching or railway switching. No matter how old one gets, the sight of it still magical to the eyes. And, that smirk post I set myself safe 🙂
  • The glimpses of local life passing by outside the window — people going about their daily routines, buildings, and cultural markers were observational.
  • It was thoughtful to watch a mother rolling a 100 rupees note in her watch strap to ensure that she’d buy the toy as soon as the vendors appear in the compartment.
  • The vendors seem to have composed a tone like a music composer out of the articles or eatery they sell such that it echoes from the other compartment so that people get alarmed about their arrival.
  • It was a watchful sight of kids who were identical twins wearing the same dress was easy to spot.
  • Exchanging those plug points on turns with arguments even when one person’s battery is dying as the other person had to make an important work call was endearing.
  • Someone smart sitting across me smiled at me evidently, no words exchanged. I was surprised. I later realised that it must be his favourite song or the podcast host cracking jokes!
  • Parallel lines of the tracks made me on ponder why people dislike them? In an analogy, if two different people grow in the same direction in their relevant domains, what’s the harm? Why do they say parallel lines do not intersect? They don’t need to yet live & grow in peace.
  • The lyrics of the songs lingers in the thoughts & makes one poetic.
