It’s Remembering Who You Are

I used to think manifestation is synonymous with wishful thinking, which meant scripting wishes into the universe, asking the universe for something shiny — the new job, the perfect relationship, the dream apartment with morning sunlight, my next medal. I used to think that manifestation meant writing affirmations. I visualised. I waited. Nothing changed. Then, one ordinary morning, something shifted — not in my world, but in me. Then I realised it was really about becoming the person who naturally attracts what they once wanted. One doesn’t manifest by thinking harder — you do it by letting go.

I had spent years trying to “manifest” the next milestone, next breakthrough, a miracle, treating the universe like an Amazon cart of desires. After ordering on Amazing, we definitely know that on or before the delivery date, we’ll receive our order. I used to assume that I put all my wishes in the Amazon Wishlist, which would come into reality one fine day. That’s how I tricked my mind. Every failure felt like proof that maybe I just wasn’t lucky enough, spiritual enough, or positive enough. But that morning, I stopped chasing outcomes and started listening instead.

What did I actually want — not to prove, not to fix, not to impress? I realised that most of my desires weren’t really mine. They were echoes of what I thought I should want — filtered through other people’s expectations. Hearing from the people and society around me, I realised that others’ validation for me was forced upon me, and that I subconsciously considered that they were my own. So, I paused the lists and the scripting. Instead, I started asking: Who am I becoming while I wait for what I want? Does the real me want these? By achieving these, will I be happy and satisfied?

The real work wasn’t in wishing. The truth about manifestation is that it’s not about getting things. It’s about becoming someone who naturally attracts them. When I started journaling, I didn’t write goals. I wrote gratitude. When I meditated, I didn’t visualise objects. I visualised peace. When I ran — being a marathoner taught me this — I stopped counting kms and started listening to rhythm, breath, flow. Everything else was secondary, hence not counted. I started living in the present and working on putting effort in the path of making my wishes come true one by one with zero expectations. Somewhere in the middle of those quiet routines, things began to shift. Not overnight. Not dramatically. But enough to make me realise that energy doesn’t respond to pressure — it responds to presence.

The Science of It (Without the Woo)

Act like you already have it. You don’t attract what you want.
You attract what you believe you deserve, not what you desire.
You attract what you break down, plan, work hard, and execute.

Neuroscience backs this — our brains filter experiences based on our internal stories. The reticular activating system (RAS) literally edits out what doesn’t match your belief system. So when you think “I’m not ready” or “It never works for me,” your mind starts curating reality to prove you right. But when you move differently — even subtly — you change your frequency. Your choices shift. Your patterns shift. And the world adjusts around that. There is a field of study called Quantum Physics, which stands by manifestation. It is still under study.

I didn’t wake up to a new car or a dream job. But I woke up to peace and gratitude — and that changed everything. That peace made me take bolder calls, speak with clarity, and trust timing instead of forcing it. Within months, I reconnected with people I’d been unintentionally pushing away. I attracted new work opportunities that matched my values. And most importantly, I stopped feeling like life was something to chase. The things I used to write on paper were quietly unfolding — not because I “manifested” them, but because I stopped standing in my own way.

Here’s What I Learned

  1. Manifestation isn’t about control. It’s about alignment.
    You don’t force the seed to grow; you create the right soil.
  2. Your words don’t manifest — your energy does.
    Speak, act, and move like the person who already has it.
  3. Gratitude is a frequency.
    It’s not cliché. It’s chemistry. Gratitude changes your body, your hormones, your posture — your signal to the world.
  4. Action is the proof of belief.
    The universe doesn’t respond to “wanting.” It responds to becoming.

It’s a quiet kind of magic. The world didn’t suddenly hand me everything I ever wanted. But it taught me something better — that when you align with peace, the right things don’t just find you; they recognise you. And that’s the part we often forget: Manifestation isn’t magic. It’s remembering who you were before doubt got loud.
